| Allergen name: | Tri a 14 |
|---|---|
| Allergen source: |
Major taxonomic group: Plantae Liliopsida (monocots) Order: Poales Species: Triticum aestivum (Wheat) NCBI Taxomony ID: 4565 |
| Biochemical name: | Non-specific lipid transfer protein type 1 (nsLTP1) |
| Molecular mass: | 9 kDa |
| Allergenicity: | Specific IgE to Tri a 14.0101, purified from wheat, was found in 60% of 40 sera from patients with baker's asthma, and the purified allergen elicited positive skin prick test reactions in 62% of 24 of these patients (Palacin et al. 2007; PubMed: 17716720). In a different study, one subject with baker's asthma out of 40 had IgE binding to rTri a 14.0201 - maltose binding protein at ~ 1 kU/L, and 1 of 10 control subjects had equivalent IgE binding by ImmunoCap (Sander et al. 2011; PubMed: 21557753). |
