Allergen Details

Allergen name: Hum j 1
Allergen source: Major taxonomic group: Plantae Eudikotyledons
Order: Rosales
Species: Humulus japonicus (Japanese hop)
NCBI Taxomony ID: 3485
Molecular mass:10 kDa
Allergenicity:Twenty-two H. japonicus allergic subjects from Korea (72%) showed IgE reactivity to proteins of 10 kDa on immunoblots. In a Chinese study, 11 of 14 sera (79%) from H. japonicus-allergic patients (symptoms in late summer + positive ImmunoCAP to H. japonicus + positive SPT) had IgE specific to purified nHum j 1 and rHum j 1.0101 (expressed in E. coli) as determined by ELISA.

The sequence previously recorded with Hum j 1.0101 (nucleotide: AY335187, protein: AAP94213, UniProt: Q7XBE3) was deleted. That sequence did not correspond with the N-terminal sequence originally obtained by Park and colleagues in 1999, and no publication was associated with that sequence. It was replaced by the sequence identified by Wei and coworkers, published in 2025, which corresponds with the original N-terminus.
