Allergenicity:Sera from eighty-four patients allergic to holm oak pollen (symptoms in spring + positive SPT to Q. ilex pollen extract) were tested. Of those, 11 sera (13%) had IgE to recombinant Que i 6, expressed in E. coli. The recombinant allergen partially inhibited IgE binding to Q. ilex pollen extract in a Western blot with a pool of 10 sera.
