Allergenicity:Sera from 18 shrimp-allergic patients were tested (symptoms + positive ImmunoCAP). Of those, 6 sera (33%) had IgE to a band corresponding to tropomyosin in a Western blot of krill extract. Five of the positive sera were tested with purified nEup s 1 on Western blot, all of which yielded a positive signal. Al 6 krill-positive patients reported allergic reactions after consuming krill, the other patients have not consumed krill.
