| Allergenicity: | Sera from 15 pollen-allergic patients with allergic rhinitis and/or asthma and a positive ImmunoCAP to mugwort pollen were tested. Of those, 6 (40%) had specific IgE to natural Art si 6 and recombinant Art si 6.0101 produced in E. coli as determined by ELISA. Five of 6 ELISA-positive sera bound to rArt si 6 in an immunoblot. In an inhibition ELISA, natural and recombinant Art si 6 inhibited IgE binding to Art si pollen extract by 76% and 47%, respectively. The recombinant allergen activated basophils sensitized with sera from three ELISA-positive patients in an indirect BAT. |
