| Allergenicity: | Sera from 30 subjects were tested. Among them, 17 patients were allergic to sunflower seeds (SFS), with SFS-specific IgE > 0.35 kU/L (ImmunoCAP). Control sera were from 13 patients tolerant to SFS but allergic to other foods. Nine of 17 (53%) SFS-allergic and 3 of 13 (23%) SFS-tolerant food-allergic patients had IgE to Hel a 17, as measured by ELISA with the natural purified allergen. |
