Allergenicity: | In an IgE dot-blot, natural Art si 14 as well as recombinant Art si 14.0101, produced in E. coli, bound IgE from 10 of 20 sera (50%) from Artemisia pollen allergic patients (symptoms: allergic rhinitis and/or asthma; ImmunoCAP class >= 3 with A. vulgaris ImmunoCAP). Nine of the ten dot-blot-positive sera also bound both allergens in IgE Western blot. In an IgE-ELISA, 50 of 87 sera (57%) from Artemisia pollen allergic patients had IgE to rArt si 14.0101. IgE ELISA inhibitions with a pool of Art si 14-sensitized sera showed partial inhibition of IgE binding to A. sieversiana pollen extract by natural and recombinant Art si 14 as well as a high extent of cross-reactivity with Art an 14. In a BAT assay, 3 of 3 Art si 14-sensitized patients reacted with rArt si 14. |
